fecal transplant? what's a fecal transplant?

And why does it make me laugh so hard?

I just saw this while I was surfing over at google news:

http://www.slate.com/id/2282768/

I'm not sure I want to see the word milkshake in this context. And I'm _allergic_ to milk products.
But the NYT covered it back in July:

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/13/science/13micro.html

There's even a wikipedia entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fecal_bacteriotherapy

This is so exactly the kind of medical approach I love. And yet, I think it's slightly grosser -- and _much_ funnier -- than maggots. I wonder if NPR ever covered this? I'd give a lot to hear someone say "fecal transplant" on the radio.

ETA: Looks like maybe?
