Where did Saturday go? Who knows. I know we went to the CSA, and IIRC there was also a run to Lowe's to order honeycomb (Persian?) cordless blinds. I spent a good chunk of both hanging out in the car/van with T. while he treated it is a full-size playset. We now have much greens, and kits for making screens of which R. has produced two, resulting in cross-ventilation in the mudroom -- yay! We also retrieved some fabric from the basement for making tab-tops for the office. Between those and the room darkening shades (when they arrive), I am optimistic it will be possible to actually sleep in that room.

Last night R. came over for dinner and we had salad (those greens), burgers and home fries. Tonight was chicken cacciatore and pineapple upside down cake (this is what happens when you cook based on what you have, as opposed to some sort of thematic plan). The pineapple upside down cake was not particularly healthy: I didn't reduce the sugar, the fat, or use whole grain flour. I did use oil, rather than solid vegetable margarine, but not to avoid trans fats -- I just wanted to avoid the sodium. Featherweight baking powder and omitting the salt in the recipe should have brought the sodium down to the trace amount to be found in other ingredients. And yet, we could detect nothing missing. Go figure. Sometimes the salt in the recipe does Absolutely Nothing (except possibly affect shelf life).

As one would expect of pineapple upside down cake, horribly hard not to go back for thirds. Seconds are just inevitable.

A few weeks ago, the local Shaw's was, for mysterious reasons, clearing out one of their organic sweeteners, a really, really dark brown sugar. I'm going to be sad when that supply is gone (I cleaned them out. I mean, come on. Half off?).

T. and I are on our own this week. Wish us luck. J. is in Boston with her sons and will be having a wonderful time. Hopefully, we will not be too hard on each other in her absence.
